meet the eldest

Cassidy was born in the US to intrepid parents who were on a mission to serve and help the world in whatever way they could. Due to her father’s career in international development, she moved to Togo at four weeks old. Eventually, three younger siblings entered the picture, and the whole brood lived across Ghana, Ethiopia, and Kenya over three decades.

This was an incredibly unique and beautiful way to grow up, but it also came with its own set of challenges — especially when it came to the question of, “where’s home?” Luckily, Cassidy’s family discovered a summer camp in Buena Vista, CO, to which they returned annually over 25 years. It took a long time, but Cassidy finally made the move to Buena Vista…and everything fell into alignment.

Eldest Daughter is the answer to a life-long call to create community, find querencia,* and build deep connections.

Eldest Daughter is here to protect the sacred act of creating community and to radically transform the way we connect. We have lost the art of having difficult conversations with our neighbors, even family. We have lost the art of slow living, home-grown, home-made, and true intimacy with one another. If we’re going to combat the forces that seek to separate us all, it needs to start at home with us. In a world of disconnection, we must be radically connected.

Let’s break bread together.

*querencia: a place where one feels safe, secure, and at home; a place where one's strength is drawn from, and where one can be their most authentic self.
